Hmmm not the best - Hannibal Reviews
Well hannibal has lots of gore in it but I feel it missed out on the basic element of a movie, the story. Everything else was there in it. What made 'Red Dragon' better is the story, the way it winds up.
The Action performances of Hopkins were good.So were the ones played by the the FBI female lead. I liked the climax scene, the one where Dr. Hannibal Lecter cuts open a person's skull with his brain visible, he takes out a piece of it and fries it and serves it to the person, he eats it too and says its goood! ( of course he's in a trance state by a dose). I donno whether thats possible in real, but in reel you know anything is. But one has to admit that the movie has the most horrifying scenes ever.
You would surely "feel it" when you see the way he kills the Patzi police officer who tries to catch the doctor, Dr. Hannibal Lecter all alone.
I still feel the movie was dull esp in the beginning half. It could have been better, coming from the class of movies like the other two
(Silence of the Lambs and Red Dragon )belonging to the triology.
Hannibal the cannibal - Hannibal Reviews
Awesome movie. Without the canibalism and the gore it wouldn't have been very good. Gore is always awesome. mmmmm, brains are tasty. I now have this unsatiable urge for human brains. Well, I have to go find me some brains now.
In some ways better than the book - Hannibal Reviews
Hannibal is brilliantly done. Julienne Moore brings a lot of dept and courage to this role that the book wrote for Starling. I can tell why Jodie Foster turned it down. They really were written as a different kind of Clarice. A Clarice that has kinda changed over the years. And Julienne Moore filled her shoe's perfectly. Its really to bad the performance was over looked because many where disapointed that Foster didn't rerise the role. What I think is best about the movie is how Ridley Scott molded it from the book. I loved how he kinda didn't real protray Hannibal Lector as a villian. Okay maybe he is one but why is the audience rooting for him. I love the relationship between how Hannible see's Starling. Hannible see's her as the good thats left in the world, she does what her heart tells her. For those who haven't read the book its a bit changed but changed for the best.

Hannibal! - Hannibal Reviews
Anthony Hopkins returns with Clarice Starling played by Julianne Moore. The story takes place after SOTL, where Hannibal gets away to Italy. The 2nd best of the 3.
Considering its potential, very dissapointing - Hannibal Reviews
Of the three Thomas Harris books, I'd have to say Hannibal was the best. The amazing insight into the mind of the doctor was priceless, and Clarice transformation from innocence to acceptance was just wonderful. The movie had none of that. What it had was direction that rode the fence and it ended up a jarbled mass of clips that would have best been left out, and a story that was missing key elements. Granted, not all from the books can be provided in the movies, but sometimes that requires ADAPTION, something which the makers of this movie need to learn more about. There were bits and pieces of this story that made sense, although most people I knew that watched it not knowing of the book came out of it lost. Anthony Hopkins can never fail of course he cannot be blamed for this letdown, Julianne Moore was nowhere near as good as Jodie Foster, and where was Mason Vergers delightful sister that played such a vital role in the book?
I just didnt care for it - Hannibal Reviews
i know you guys are thinking its odd that i dont like the movie but yet im giving it a good grade. i contradict myself all the time. anyhow, this movie is well written and acted. gorey effects just awesome. will do any horror movie buff proud. ahem. sorry not the point. hannibal is a whole lot better than the silence of the lambs. i actually fell asleep for that one. mainly why i dont like this movie is it just bothers me. i can go for the whole monster ripping people apart thing, but when it comes to people. it just makes me cringe. yuck. the whole brain part in this movie just gave me a complex. i couldnt eat a hamburger for weeks. little extreme. just kidding. but you get the idea. just wanted to contribute to this well made but really gross and disgusting movie. cringing. yuck. watch it if you like this kinda stuff. i think ill just stick to monsters.

Sequels....ugh.... - Hannibal Reviews
I'll keep it brief...if you rent this movie, any parts without Anthony Hopkins will bore you to DEATH!
The good news is, Hokins hasn't lost his touch, and his portrail of Hannibal Lecter is as good as it ever was!
Everyone else does a substandard performance, either their own fault or the directing, or possibly the screenplay was just sub-par, but in any case, I have NO idea why this movie was made, and given the time the writers had since the first movie, they could have come up with a better story!
